Nubian Goats

In early summer 2007, after over a year of research and discussion, we purchased our first three Nubian goats: Felicity, Lillian and Joe. Felicity came to us from RO-DE-LA Hill's and Lillian and Joe came from Hope Haven. We are grateful to both for our start in Nubian goats. We  had a great time  raising them to  yearling and learning more about there care.

In June 2008  we  added  the matron of the group from Capering Valley Nubians, Black Betty. Meredith Fewins owner of Capering Valley Nubians  has been great to work with and I hope to add more of her lines here at Bantam Hill over the next year or two. I have learned a lot from Meredith since becoming acquainted and I highly recommend her.

One of the most of the most important pieces I have learned is the need for a quality buck. During our year of research, I discovered the importance of the buck and Joe was selected after viewing his dame and grand dame along with reviewing his registry information. While it seams silly to spend alot on a buck, he really is half the herd and will impact the quality of the replacement does for many years in a positive way.

Our future plans include adding a junior herd sire with a powerful lineage and one additional doe or doeling before I close the herd for several years. We are looking forward to both Betty and Felicity kidding this fall and will hopefully have some strong kids to evaluate and raise.
